Mission

Jeunesse Idem is a community organization that aims to improve the quality of life of gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans and questioning youth aged 7-35, and to raise awareness in the Outaouais region of the realities of sexual orientation and gender identity diversity.

The Communications and Events Officer's goal is to encourage involvement and improve the Outaouais 2SLGBTQIA+ community's opinion of the organization.

Summary of Tasks 

Under the supervision of general management, the person sought will be called upon to:

Events and Activities 

  • Creating events and activities of interest to 2SLGBTQIA+ people between the ages of 7 and 35 and the general public.

  • Developing and hold activities around the international day of May 17;

  • Developing major projects such as Gatineau's 2SLGBTQIA+ Pride Week;

  • Producing reports on public participation in events.

  • Scheduling content to be published on social networks;

  • Overseeing social networks and interactions with the public;

  • Producing reports on the content of social networking efforts.

Internal Communications

  • Involving the rest of the organization's team in events, activities and content for social networks;

  • Collaborating with the rest of the team to ensure that all needs, services offered, and information on our social networks are up to date;

  • Supervising the organization's volunteer graphic designer in content creation.

External Communications 

  • Managing committees and partnerships with organizations that collaborate with the organization on certain projects and events;

  • Communicating news about the organization with members, partners and the media;

  • Developing communications plans to improve relations with members, partners and the media.

Content Creation 

  • Developing interesting content that contributes to the organization's positive image;

  • Creating content that highlights the organization's services, team, activities and mission;

  • Supervising projects involving graphic design, video production, photo editing, etc.

Required profile 

  • Professional or academic experience in communications, marketing, public relations or related fields;

  • Professional, academic or volunteer experience in event management;

  • Good oral and written communication skills in French (English an asset);

  • Have a good knowledge of and sensitivity to the realities experienced by people in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community;

  • Demonstrate leadership skills;

  • Demonstrate initiative and autonomy;

  • Demonstrate great adaptability;

  • Be highly organized and able to manage several projects at the same time;

  • Demonstrate professionalism;

  • Ability to receive constructive criticism;

  • Be comfortable with the organization's mission and values;

  • Comfortable working with the Microsoft Office suite;

  • Comfortable working with social networks: Facebook, Instagram (Youtube and Wix are assets).

Working conditions

Hourly rate: $20.25/hour and more depending on experience (15 hours/week)
Hours: 28 to 35 hours per week (days, nights, and weekends on occasion)

Starting date: As soon as possible
